The President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, led the inauguration ceremony of the remodeling of the Chepo Regional Hospital, a transcendental work that promises to significantly improve medical care in the region and benefit nearly 95 thousand people.
With an investment of $10 million, this remodeling includes the construction of a new Outpatient Clinic, the replacement of the Emergency Service and the expansion of parking, which will contribute to optimizing the capacity to serve the population.
During his speech, President Cortizo Cohen highlighted the importance of this work, recovered during his administration, highlighting that it will offer adequate spaces and environments to provide quality medical services in emergencies, General Medicine and specialties.
The remodeling will mainly benefit the inhabitants of the towns of Chepo Cabeza, Chepillo, Balboa and Chimán, as well as the floating population of other surrounding communities that come in search of medical attention.
The general director of the Social Security Fund (CSS), Dr. Enrique Lau Cortés, expressed his satisfaction with the completion of this work that was stagnant for a decade, highlighting the institution’s commitment to the continuous improvement of health services. in the country.
In addition, he recalled the important projects inaugurated during this administration, such as the new San Juan Polyclinic, the “Dionisio Arrocha” Hospital in Puerto Armuelles, the new towers of the “Dr. Rafael Estévez”, the Penonomé Polyclinic and the City of Health. Soon, the opening of the San Antonio Polyclinic and the new Cancerology Hospital are expected, both located in the City of Health.
With the inauguration of the remodeling of the Chepo Regional Hospital, more accessible and quality care will be provided to a population that amounts to approximately 82,173 people, who come seeking care in General, specialized, dental and emergency medicine.
