Agencia IP.- As of July this year, nearly 80,000 teachers who make up the country’s teaching sector will have a 5% increase in their salary.
With this readjustment, the 16% increase agreed by the Government with this sector will be reached, with educators being the only public officials who will receive a salary increase this year.
The deputy minister of the Undersecretary of State for Financial Administration, Marco Elizeche, reported that as of this July, teachers at the country’s public educational institutions will receive their salaries with a 5% readjustment.
He explained that the Ministry of Education and Sciences (MEC) has already submitted to the Ministry of Finance the request to make the corresponding rescheduling that is required to effectuate the readjustment of the salary to the national public teaching sector.
“That must come out with a decree, so surely in the next few days that document would already be available and the salary for July would be coming out with the 5% readjustment that is necessary to reach the 16% that was planned to be reached this year”, referred in an interview with Radio Nacional del Paraguay.
He recalled that in October of last year, the teacher’s salary was already readjusted by 11%, so this 5% is pending to reach the agreed 16%.
Regarding the impact generated by the 5% wage readjustment in the State budget, he stated that they amount to 115,000 million guaraníes, which will be invested from July to December of this year.
“If the 11% that has already been paid since October of last year is taken into account and the 5% to be added since July of this year is added, the total investment amounts to 80 million dollars, for the period of the rest of the year,” he explained.
