Nearly 100 migrants tried to enter the country yesterday -at about 8:00 p.m.- through the Chacalluta Border Complex, in the Arica and Parinacota Region. Given the situation, personnel from the Investigative Police (PDI) and Carabineros carried out redirection work.
The region’s presidential delegate, Ricardo Sanzanacommented that “we had a situation related to people who are migrating from Peru, through the border crossing, where there were approximately 80-100 people who tried to enter.
“The protocols that are in force by law were activated, both the PDI and the Carabineros presented the necessary support so that this situation could have the necessary control required by law,” added the authority.
In turn, he commented that “there is nothing extraordinary about what the Migration Law provides as a tool. Those who cannot enter will be subjected to the registration and redirection process necessary for these purposes. In this sense, there is no situation different from that contemplated by law, we are as a Government taking charge from the law“.
