Leaders of the Western military alliance are meeting today (24) in Brussels. After the meeting, it was decided that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) will increase the number of troops in countries to the east of the alliance, more specifically in Slovakia, Romania, Bulgaria and Hungary.
“We remain united and resolute in our determination to oppose Russian aggression, help the government and people of Ukraine and defend the security of all allies,” read the statement signed by the leaders of the 30 countries that make up the alliance.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has again appealed to Western countries for a no-fly zone so that Russian planes could be shot down during flights over Ukraine.
NATO leaders, however, continue with the understanding of non-intervention in the conflict, to avoid an escalation of tension and a war of greater proportions.
