The first fully national vaccine against Covid-19, called SpiN-TEC, should be available to the population via the Unified Health System (SUS) in the first half of next year. The information was released this Thursday (16) by the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Luciana Santos.
Developed by the Vaccine Technology Center of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), the dose has resources from the National Fund for Scientific and Technological Development. The ministry invested R$140 million, through RedeVírus, supporting everything from pre-clinical trials to clinical phases 1, 2 and 3.

In an interview with radio stations during the program Good morning, Ministerproduced by Brazilian Communication Company (EBC)Luciana recalled that the vaccine is in the final phase of studies – at the beginning of the month, the Brazil published the first scientific article on testing safety guidelines that show the vaccine is safe.
“We are now going to file an application with Anvisa [Agência Nacional de Vigilância Sanitária] to be able to validate this vaccine. The person making the technological purchase is a Brazilian company, Libbs. I was with them yesterday (15), in São Paulo. They will do the IFA [insumo farmacêutico ativo]. And the one who will bottle it is another Brazilian company from Minas Gerais. It’s national pride.”
