National added a new victory in less than ten days over his greatest rival, Penarolwith the conquest of the Uruguayan Super Cup with a 2-1 victory. Nicolás López, with a penalty, and Jeremía Recoba sealed the victory that also warms up the start of the Apertura Tournament, this Friday.
From the first minute Peñarol put pressure on the goal of Panamanian Luis Mejía. A play validated by the VAR as a penalty leveled the advantage for Nacional with the goal in the 38th minute by Nicolás ‘Diente’ López. Five minutes later, Recoba expanded with a right-footed shot.

The second half began with renewed pressure from the tricolor team starting with Nicolás López. In the 69th minute Peñarol’s discount came. Diego García received the ball inside the area and with a dry shot he beat goalkeeper Luis Mejía. Although the Carboneros tried by different means to equalize the score, Nacional’s defense closed to prevent the rival from entering.
