National sovereignty is not negotiable, says Sedena

Ricardo Trevilla, head of the Ministry of National Defense (Sedena), said that loyalty to the homeland also involves citizens. Amid the negotiations between the new president of the United States, Donald Trump, and President Sheinbaum, the secretary supported the position of the president in defending sovereignty.

“History has taught us that loyalty towards the nation not only concerns the military, is rooted in each Mexican and Mexican who aspires to inherit a country to future generations.

“We are aware that as our supreme command has pointed out, and it is a vision shared by society itself, our sovereignty is not negotiable,” he said.

Salvador Cienfuegos attends

General Salvador Cienfuegos, former Secretary of Defense in the government of Enrique Peña Nieto, attended the event headed by President Sheinbaum.

The former secretary was in the second row of the temple where the Federal Mandatory Cabinet was placed. During the commemoration, the general remained standing.

Salvador Cienfuegos has remained away from public events, although it was already seen in some events of former president Andrés Manuel López Obrador and now appears with President Sheinbaum.

On October 15, 2020 he was arrested by United States authorities in Los Angeles, California, accused of drug trafficking.

Former President López Obrador then accused that the Mexican government was not notified, so they requested their liberation from the United States, which withdrew the positions in November of that year.

Once in Mexico, the Attorney General’s Office exonerated him and filed the file.
