The Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Mescyt) opened the call for the National Scholarship Program 2026.
The initiative prioritizes training in Steam areas (acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) with the aim of promoting critical thinkingsolving real problems and innovation.
The scholarships are distributed in 49 Higher Education Institutions (IES) that operate in the country, with an offer of 357 runs and 469 academic programswith the purpose of expanding training opportunities for Dominican students and professionals through the state educational support system.
Academic offer
The call includes programs in strategic areas for national development at different levels of training, at the higher technical level in areas such as: Mechatronics Technology, Information Network Technology, Artificial Intelligence Technology, Cybersecurity Technologist.
Furthermore, in the grade level There is Telematics Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Cybersecurity Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Software Engineering. Agronomic Engineering, Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism and Hotel Administration.
Just as in the master’s level are: Sciences in Energy Efficiency, Management and Innovation of Sustainable Tourist Destinations, Industrial Engineering, Data Science and Advanced Analysis, Legal and Forensic Dentistry, Precision Agriculture.
Priority: STEAM training and female participation
The Minister of Mescyt, Rafael Santos Badía, explained that these areas respond to the country’s needs in terms of innovation, productivity and sustainable developmentcontributing to the training of highly qualified human resources.
During the event, the vice minister of the Presidency, Luis Maderahighlighted that the prioritization of scholarships in areas Steam responds to the strategic sectors defined by the Government, such as logistics, specialized free zones, diversified tourism and agribusiness.
He indicated that these sectors require trained professionals in sciencestechnology, computing, mathematics and arts, while highlighting the interest in promoting female participation in these areas.

Term of call
The call for the National Scholarships 2026 is open from this February 23 until the March 8, 2026. During this period, interested parties may submit their applications in accordance with the established requirements.
