Through a statement Carlos Cuartas who was appointed as the vice-presidential formula of the National Salvation candidate Enrique Gómezrequested to repeat the congressional elections held on March 13, after the irregularities that became evident days later.
The vice-presidential candidate also points out that the inconveniences in electoral matters that were registered during the legislative elections could set a negative precedent for the presidential election to be held on next May 29.
“Carlos Cuartas Quiceno formulates the Vice Presidency of Enrique Gómez Martínez, candidate for National Salvation, asks to repeat the congressional elections of March 13, due to the lack of guarantees,” the statement said in the first instance.

“It cannot be that we Colombians are doubting the most important instance of a democracy. It is incredible how fragile our electoral system is today, which has led citizens to lose credibility in the institutions; generating danger ad-portas of one of the most important elections in the history of our country”, indicates another of the sections of the communiqué of the vice-presidential candidate Carlos Cuartas.
In the statement, the vice-presidential candidate also strongly questioned that the registrar Alexander Vega continues in his position despite the scandals that arose after this electoral process.
“In any company in the world, an error of this magnitude is paid for with leaving the position. We have to restore dignity to the public function with suitable people who are willing to serve the country,” the candidate for Vice President of the National Salvation party finally highlighted in the statement.

In the last few hours, the presidential candidate Enrique Gómez harshly questioned the candidate Gustavo Petro for the meeting that his brother held with Iván Moreno Rojas, condemned by the Bogotá contract carousel. The National Salvation candidate wrote on his Twitter account:
“Senator Petro has a moral obligation to the country to renounce his candidacy. This was not an error or coincidence, it was a pact with criminals, planned and with the aim of obtaining votes in exchange for the pardon of the most blatantly corrupt.”
