The Ministry of Public Works, through National Roads, continues to carry out new road infrastructure projects to recover a large part of the road network in the province of Catamarca. Currently, 11 works are underway, financed by the national government through an investment of more than $17,000 million.
As reported by the Ministry of Public Works, one of the most significant works is being carried out on National Route 38, within the framework of a recovery and maintenance contract that corresponds to Malla 441.
Among its main tasks, it includes the resurfacing of 67 kilometers of roadway between the end of Circunvalación Avenue and the border with Tucumán. In turn, on National Route 38, the repair of fifteen sewers and bridges between the towns of El Portezuelo and La Merced is being carried out.
Once finished, These works will substantially improve the transitability and safety of those who use this road, which is part of the corridor that connects the Cuyo region with Northwest Argentina.and it is the main land communication link between the Central Valley and part of eastern Catamarca, since it has an important flow of vehicles that travel between the departments of Capayán, Capital, Valle Viejo, Paclín and Santa Rosa.
In relation to the investment of more than $17,000 million in works in execution in Catamarca, the general administrator of National Roads, Gustavo Arrieta, affirmed that “the financing plan of the national Government in this province is essential to carry out works with a federal perspective that allow us to achieve greater inclusion and equal opportunities for all”.
“Together with President Alberto Fernández and the Minister of Public Works, Gabriel Katopodis, we maintain a constant dialogue with the governor of the province and local authorities to multiply efforts and finalize the development of these projects that will enhance connectivity, accessibility and logistics between Catamarca and the regions of Cuyo, the NOA and the center of the country”, he pointed out.

In addition to the interventions carried out on RN 38, four other maintenance, rehabilitation and security works are underway on national routes 40, 60 and 157which will benefit the productive and tourist sector of the region.
In this sense, national routes 40 and 60 accommodate the transport of products such as walnut, olive, cotton and grapevine.
In northwestern Argentina, National Route 40 is one of the main routes to Salta and Jujuy, as well as National Route 157, which is chosen by users who visit San Miguel de Tucumán and the Salinas Grandes.
The recovery and maintenance work corresponding to Malla 408 A is about to begin, which will include the resurfacing of the road and the paving of shoulders along 114 kilometers of national routes 60 and 157, between the border with Córdoba and the city of Frias, in Santiago del Estero.
