The Attorney General’s Office opened a preliminary investigation against the president of the Republic, José Jeri for the secret meeting held by the Chinese businessman Zhihua Yang in a chifa in San Borja on December 26, according to sources from Peru21.
The investigation by the Public Ministry, for alleged illegal sponsorship, began last Thursday after this unregistered departure of the president was revealed and before learning of a second meeting with Zhihua Yang in a commercial premises in the center of Lima.
A provincial prosecutor’s office also began a preliminary investigation of the Chinese businessman for this same meeting at the chifa that Jerí entered hooded. For this clandestine meeting, the president used the so-called “presidential chest.”
The fiscal investigations against the head of state, however, will be limited to simple procedures and respecting the presidential investiture, in accordance with the resolution of the Constitutional Court (TC) issued in favor of former president Dina Boluarte, so once completed, they are suspended until the end of Jerí’s presidential term, these sources explained to this newspaper.
