The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro celebrated the reestablishment of the border crossing between Venezuela and Colombia through the Atanasio Girardot bridge.
In a message, he assured that he was “happy” about this reopening, which he stated “allows us to continue taking important steps for the full reestablishment of commercial, economic, and respectful and peace relations between two brother nations.”

In the publication made through his account on the social network Twitter, the head of state posted the image of the moment when this new road was opened that allows the interconnection between both nations.
A binational achievement
On January 1, 2023, a new stage between Venezuela and Colombia began with the reopening of the Atanasio Girardot Binational Bridge, also known as Tienditas, in the border area, Táchira state.
“An achievement of both governments for the benefit of our peoples,” said the Venezuelan ambassador to the neighboring country, Félix Plasencia, when he spoke on Twitter this Sunday.
