The Ministry of the Interior and the National Lottery celebrate the 45th Anniversary of the Mexican Commission for Aid to Refugees (COMAR) with the Special Zodiac Raffle ticket No. 1724, to highlight its work in guaranteeing the right of people to receive shelter and protection in Mexico, in addition to its role as a reference in Latin America in the care and recognition of those who flee for reasons such as persecution or violence in their countries of origin.

In this inter-institutional work, the Undersecretary of Human Rights, Population and Migration, Félix Arturo Medina Padilla, the general director of the National Lottery, Olivia Salomón, and the general coordinator of COMAR, Xadeni Méndez Márquez, agreed on the importance of contributing to actions that contribute to strengthening the procedures and attention to the massive flow of people who require shelter.

Prior to the unveiling of the bill and on behalf of the Secretary of the Interior, Rosa Icela Rodríguez Velázquez, the Undersecretary of Human Rights, Population and Migration, Arturo Medina, expressed that this anniversary encourages us to continue building a Mexico that honors its tradition of asylum and refuge.

“It is a great pleasure that the National Lottery issues a commemorative ticket for the 45th anniversary of COMAR, since through these tickets messages of identity, hope and solidarity are expressed.

“I hope that this act serves as a tribute to those who cross borders, overcome obstacles and leave everything behind to look for a place to live in Mexico,” he highlighted.

From the heart of the capital, director Olivia Salomón pointed out that the National Lottery accompanies the great moments of the nation and, with this vocation, commemorates COMAR with the Special Zodiac Draw ticket No. 1724, which in this 45th anniversary celebrates one of the noblest expressions of national identity: the humanitarian and hospitable tradition of Mexico.

“This commemorative ticket from the National Lottery pays tribute to this history of solidarity, reminding us that we are a nation that does not close doors, that accompanies and embraces those who seek a new beginning,” he said.

He affirmed that with a history of 255 years, the institution of luck is part of the government of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, who clearly reaffirms a foreign policy with a human, modern, firm and deeply humanistic face; It is, he said, a policy that places dignity and human rights at the center, and that understands that solidarity is not a gesture of charity, but an act of justice.

The head of the National Lottery explained that each ticket is an opportunity to win and a symbol that travels throughout the country carrying hope, unity and memory, celebrating the Commission, its vocation of solidarity, its commitment to human dignity and its openness to the world, as well as all the people who have found a new beginning in Mexico, “may this unveiling be a reminder that solidarity and empathy also build a homeland.”

For her part, the general coordinator of COMAR, Xadeni Méndez Márquez, highlighted that the bill is a tribute and an act of gratitude to those who found protection and new opportunities in Mexico after fleeing violence and persecution.

“45 years ago, in the midst of displacement and exile caused by war and persecution, Mexico took a historic step: creating a civil, humanitarian and secular institution that would embody its internationalist vocation,” he said.

During his speech, the representative in Mexico of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Giovanni Lepri, stated that it is very symbolic that refugees are visible in the daily life of Mexico through a commemorative ticket. He also recognized that Mexico, in addition to being a supportive and open country, has shown to be very clear that what is at the center are the rights, and in this case, those of the people who have had to abandon everything due to causes related to violence or persecution.

A little bit with luck and humanism

Olivia Salomón announced that with an issue of two million 400 thousand pieces, the COMAR ticket is already on sale around the country and in miloteria.mx, it has a Grand Prize of 11 million pesos in a series and a distributable bag of 43 million pesos, it will be held on the night of Sunday, October 26 at 8 p.m.

The draw celebration will be broadcast live on the institutional YouTube channel Traditional Draws of the National Lottery.
