The main representatives of the aeronautical sector sent a statement this Friday where they guarantee the supply of fuel for the flights during the National Holidays.
“On Wednesday, July 20, we were informed that a solution had been achieved, and of the commitment of suppliers and authorities to guarantee the supply of Turbo A-1 fuel. With this, the transport of passengers, as well as the shipment of cargo and merchandise, would be carried out normally during the National Holidays”, points to the document.
Likewise, they report that they met with the competent authorities to explain the impact that this contingency could have on the continuity of air transport derived from said alert, especially during one of the seasons with the highest demand for travelers and tourists nationwide.
The statement bears the signature of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA), the Association of International Air Transport Companies in Peru (AETAI) and the Peruvian Association of Air Companies ( APEA).
As is known, last Sunday the state-owned company Petroperú reported a possible shortage of fuel for planes, due to the fact that in recent weeks the discharge has been affected by port closures as a result of abnormal waves that occur in our coastline.
This alert generated strong concern in the tourism, economic and social sector, especially since we are just a few days before the National Holidays start.
In this context, it is important to mention that about 30% of the flights that depart daily from Lima depend on the supply of Petroperú, which would affect thousands of passengers during holidays and cargo operations.
