The Ministry of Public Works, through Vialidad Nacional, continues the progress of the work to transform National Route 3 into a highway between the towns of Caleta Olivia and Rada Tillyfinanced by the national government through an investment that exceeded $11,000 million.
This is a project in southern Patagonia that will optimize development and the logistical, commercial and productive link between the provinces of Santa Cruz and Chubut.
In this way, the general administrator of National Highway, Gustavo Arrieta, stated that “we are proud to move forward and promote a work that is an act of vindication and justice for Patagonia. Since we took office, we made the political decision to reactivate those works that had been paralyzed during the previous administration, repairing four years of deep setback in terms of connectivity and road safety.
“This project reinforces the commitment and federal imprint of the management carried out by the President of the Nation, Alberto Fernández, and the Minister of Public Works, Gabriel Katopodis,” the official completed.
The work consists of duplicating the roadway of two sections of RN 3, the first extends over 41.6 kilometers between Caleta Olivia up to km 1867near the border with Chubut, while the second includes 24 kilometers between Rada Tilly and km 1867. Likewise, the reconstruction of the existing roadway and the execution of basic work and pavement structure for the new layout are foreseen.
Currently, the works that are carried out in the province of Santa Cruz imply the construction of an embankment; the preparation of subgrade, subbase and granular base; the reconditioning of the base with and without input of material and primer in the vicinity of the workshop; the installation of three kilometers of wire; the execution of a black base in the La Lobería area; and the construction of concrete culverts.
Regarding the section that takes place in the province of Chubutthe construction of embankments and culverts, granular base and sub-base, soil movement and milling of sections on the existing road is being carried out between the seaside resort of Rada Tilly and Ramón Santos, on the border with the province of Santa Cruz.
On the other hand, The laying of the black base began for the construction of the first meters of asphalt on the highway in the sector located in the vicinity of Rada Tilly.
The interventions are carried out in parallel between the Santa Cruz and Chubut districts of Vialidad Nacional, since the inspection, supervision and follow-up in the execution of the tasks is in charge of the technical personnel of both district headquarters.
The RN 3 It connects Patagonia with the province of Buenos Aires and all heavy traffic circulates through it to the different towns in the south and southwest of the province of Santa Cruz, as well as to the province of Tierra del Fuego and the Republic of Chile.
