The representatives of the delegations of the Venezuelan Government and of the Unitary Platform (opposition) for the dialogue process, Jorge Rodríguez and Gerardo Blyde, respectively, met this Tuesday in an attempt to resume the political dialogue under international auspices, suspended since October last year.
“In my capacity as representative of the delegation of the Bolivarian government of Venezuela for the dialogue processes, I have held a meeting with Dr. Gerardo Blyde to seek action formulas for the future,” Rodríguez reported through Twitter.
He indicated that it was a meeting of “work for future plans, in the rescue of the spirit of Mexico.”
Rodríguez pointed out that the Government has insisted “on the crucial importance of the development of social issues that are of the main interest of our people.”
“Our brother Alex Saab, kidnapped for 704 days, is a full member of the Venezuelan delegation and is our delegate to the social table that we are discussing,” he said.
In this sense, he stated that the Bolivarian Government “has demanded, demands and will demand the participation of Alex Saab in any of the work initiatives that are eventually agreed upon.”
The dialogue process in Mexico, which is being carried out under the auspices of a facilitating team from the Kingdom of Norway and with Russia and the Netherlands accompanying it, was suspended in mid-October at the initiative of the national government after Cape Verde’s extradition to the United States was confirmed. of the diplomat Alex Saab.
In March of this year, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, announced a “reformatting” of the dialogue process to include all factors in society.
