National exports use air routes over sea routes

The record prices reached by gold in 2025 caused the national exports he air transport will displace the maritime route as the main outlet for Dominican products from that regime, for the first time in the last three years.

Between January and November of last year, 46.8% of national products that were sent abroad, and whose amount amounted to 4,838.6 million dollars, were transported by plane, representing an increase of 5.9 percentage points in relation to the 40.9% registered in the same period of 2024.

However, of the total national exports of the aforementioned period, the gold represented 42.8%, equivalent to 2,073.4 million dollars, according to statistics from the General Directorate of Customs (DGA).

The price that the gold metal achieved in the international markets, which exceeded $4,400 per ounce in October 2025, resulted in the exports of this good grew in absolute terms by 742.2 million dollars between January and November of last year and the same date in 2024. The figure implied an increase of 55.7%.

  • In addition to gold, within the amount sent abroad in the national export regime, cocoa and its preparations represented 7.2%, plastic materials and their manufactures (5.5%), foundry, iron and steel (4.6%), sugars and confectionery items (3.3%), edible fruits, citrus peels (3.1%), preparations based on cereals and flour (1.78%), among others.

In the same sense, the national exports through the ground transportation increased slightlygoing from 12.6% of the total to 13.7%, representing an increase of 1.1 percentage points.

This increase would be explained by the rise in exports totals towards Haiti for the period January-November of 2025, which amounted to 1,064.2 million dollars, showing an increase of 27.9% compared to the same period of the previous year, according to the DGA.

Of that amount, the exports of the national regime They presented a participation of 70.4%, equivalent to 749.1 million dollars.

Those from free zones

As for the manufactured products in the free zones of the country, its main means of exit from the territory continued to be, mainly, boats.

77% of the exports of free zones between January and November 2025, which amounted to 7,936.1 million dollars, came out seaa percentage that represents an increase of 3.4 percentage points compared to the 73.6% registered in the same period last year.

The rest of the goods of the aforementioned regime that were exported from January to November were done through the air transport (20.6%) and the remaining 2.4% terrestrially.

Collections fall in November

The General Directorate of Customs accumulated 240,479.6 million pesos in collections between January and November 2025, an amount that represents an increase of 3.8% compared to the same period of the previous year, equivalent to an additional 8,758.4 million pesos.

However, the DGA’s income for the eleventh month of last year totaled 21,259.7 millionachieving compliance with its assigned goal of only 80.4%, that is, 5,165.31 million pesos less than budgeted.

Likewise, with respect to 2024, the collections November 2025 presented a drop of 7.6%, meaning 1,750.5 million pesos less than in the same period of 2024, according to statistical reports from the DGA.
