The InfoGripe bulletin, released today (9) by the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz), referring to Epidemiological Week 9, which covers the period from February 27 to March 5, reveals that the national curve of cases of covid-19 maintains a sign of fall in long-term and short-term trends, which correspond to the last six weeks and the last three weeks, respectively. The study also reports that the predominance of cases of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (Sars-CoV-2) among positive laboratory results for respiratory viruses in all age groups analyzed.
Despite the maintenance of the scenario of a decline in the general population, the bulletin indicates that the incidence of cases in children increased significantly in several states throughout February. Until the beginning of last month, children up to 4 years old had the highest incidence among the population under 40 years old. The age groups of 60 years and over remain the groups with the highest weekly record of SARS cases and deaths with a positive RT-PCR result for Sars-CoV-2 (covid-19).
According to InfoGripe, 85,617 SARS cases have already been reported in the epidemiological year 2022, of which 51,024 (59.6%) had a positive laboratory result for some respiratory virus, 20,913 (24.4%) were negative and at least 8,913 (10. 4%) awaiting laboratory results. In the last four epidemiological weeks, the prevalence among positive cases was 0.7% Influenza A, 0.1% Influenza B, 5.2% respiratory syncytial virus, and 87.4% Sars-CoV-2.

None of the Brazilian states show signs of growth in the long-term trend until Week 9. However, three states (Ceará, Espírito Santo and Sergipe) and the Federal District show signs of growth only in the short-term trend. According to InfoGripe’s coordinator, Marcelo Gomes, changes in long-term behavior require careful interpretation in light of possible fluctuations. “In situations like this, the recommended thing is that any new measures that are being planned in light of the downward trend are suspended for reassessment of the trend in the following weeks. term, the principle of caution and risk minimization recommends that any measures associated with downward trends be taken only when the long-term trend also indicates a decrease”, said the researcher.

This year, 17,421 SARS deaths have already been recorded, of which 14,341 (82.3%) had a positive laboratory result for some respiratory virus, 2,273 (13.0%) were negative, and at least 397 (2.3%) were awaiting laboratory results. .
According to the InfoGripe newsletter, among the positive results recorded in 2022, 4.1% are Influenza A, 0.1% Influenza B, 0.2% respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and 94.4% Sars-CoV- two. In the last four epidemiological weeks, the prevalence among positive cases was 0.4% Influenza A, 0.1% Influenza B, 0.3% respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and 97.3% Sars-CoV-2.
