During the National Congress of Cooks of the Homeland, 171 thousand proposals arising from a debate process in schools throughout the country were consolidated; The meeting brought together more than 62 thousand chef mothers and fathers, connected in person and by videoconference, who addressed strategic lines such as strengthening leading democracy and popular organization, as well as the contribution from the kitchen to productive Venezuela.
The Minister of Popular Power for Education, Héctor Rodríguez, stressed that this movement is part of the four social actors that guide national educational policy, together with the Bolivarian Student Organization (OBE), the Federation of Secondary Education Students and the Bolivarian Movement of Teachers.
Rodríguez recalled that the Fernanda Bolaños Movement was born from the National School Feeding Corporation (CNAE), as a policy promoted by the Bolivarian Revolution. In this congress, concrete contributions were defined for the productive sphere in communal, municipal and state stages. “The chef mothers and fathers also elected 16,897 spokespersons throughout the national territory and formed 17,000 debate rooms.”
Among the proposals, the creation of seed banks in each school was proposed, with the aim of taking advantage of the inputs that circulate daily through the hands of those who prepare food, explained the minister.
Finally, Rodríguez indicated that the cooks have received training together with the Ministries of Food and Communes, with the purpose of improving the school diet and acquiring knowledge about the proper processing of food. “They are determined to continue strengthening the food policy of this country, but also contribute to defense, democracy and also contribute to production.”
