National Ballet of Cuba will dedicate a gala to the teacher Aurora Bosch

The Cuban National Ballet (BNC) announced this Friday that it will dedicate a gala function on December 16 to one of the most emblematic dancers in its history, the teacher Aurora Bosch, on the occasion of her 80th birthday.

The special function of the company directed by Viegnsay Valdés will be held at the Teatro Martí, and its program will include selections of some works from the artist’s repertoire, such as giselle, grand pas de quatre Y the lake of the Swansaccording to a report from the Prensa Latina (PL) agency.

Together with Loipa Araújo, Josefina Méndez and Mirta Plá, Bosch was part of the famous group known as the “four jewels of Cuban ballet”.

The dancer was born in Havana on December 10, 1942 and studied at the Alicia Alonso Ballet Academy under the direction of another legend of Cuban dance, Fernando Alonso, and other prominent teachers, recalls the outlet.

In 1956 she began her professional career, which earned her the National Dance Award in Cuba, and other recognitions such as the Félix Varela Order and the Alejo Carpentier Medal.

Aurora Bosch has received important international awards such as the Gold and Silver Medals at the International Ballet Competition in Varna, Bulgaria; and the Anna Pávlova Prize from the University of Dance in Paris, France.

Also the Special Prize of Dance Critics, in France; the Gold Medal of the National Institute of Fine Arts of Mexico; as well as the Sagittarius of Gold International Art Award, in Italy.

In addition to his successful stage projection, he accumulates a long and recognized pedagogical work. In 1962 she was Founding Professor of the National School of Art, in whose Ballet specialty she worked for several years.

Since 1987 she has been Associate Professor at the Higher Institute of Art of Cuba (ISA), an institution that in 2000 awarded her a Doctorate in Art Sciences.

From these positions he has contributed to the training of the young generations of Cuban dancers. In addition to maitre d’ of the BCN, has exercised this function as a guest of important companies from various countries such as Spain, Mexico, Denmark and the United States, among others.
