National Ballet of Cuba began a tour of 14 Spanish cities

In the Catalan city of Terrassa, the tour of the National Ballet of Cuba (BNC) through Spain began this Saturday, a journey that will last until May 25 and that will have performances in 14 cities of the European country, all under the direction of the first dancer Viengsay Valdes.

The presentations of the BNC started in style in Iberian lands, where they received praise from the local press. The start of the tour coincided with International Dance Day, which was celebrated on April 29. Precisely, Viengsay Valdés dedicated the Saturday performance to dancers, choreographers, teachers, rehearsals, musicians, directors, designers, makeup artists, researchers and dance scholars, as stated in the Terrassa program.

During this first presentation of the BNC in Spain, it was also possible to appreciate the photographic exhibition “National Ballet of Cuba”, by the Spanish Josep Guindo and the Cuban Yailín Alfaro, who exhibited images of the company’s staging, according to report of the ACN.

According to a BNC publication in its official profile Facebook, the program of this tour includes the works Love Fear Loss, by Ricardo Amarante; Three Preludes, by Ben Stevenson OBE; DSCH Concerto, by Alexei Ratmansky, and Seventh Symphony, by Uwe Scholz.

In each case, they will be led by Viengsay Valdés and the leading figures Anette Delgado, Sadaise Arencibia, Grettel Morejón, Dani Hernández and Yankiel Vázquez. There will also be the main dancers Chavela Riera, Darío Hernández, Yasiel Hodelín and Ányelo Montero, seconded by soloists and the dance group.

The company will present itself, in addition to Terrasa, in Huelva, Seville, Granada, León, San Sebastián, Vitoria, Burgos, Santander, Segovia, Bilbao, Logroño and Pamplona.
