The Economy and Finance Commission of the National Assembly will decide this Wednesday whether or not to enact draft 199 that seeks to modify the General Law of the National Charity Lottery (LNB).
The initiative also repeals Law 25 of 1914, Law 9 of 1919, Law 109 of February 8, 1943, Law 96 of December 4, 1963; Cabinet Decree No.224 of July 16, 1969, Cabinet Decree No.57 of 1970 relating to this entity.
The bill proposed by deputy Mayín Correa seeks to put an end to “administrative sloppiness” in the National Lottery and increase commissions for ticket holders and establish the requirements to receive a ticket book for sale.
“For the first time the National Charity Lottery has been subjected to major scandals, Panamanians expect the National Assembly to review this project or others that may join, to improve and make it more productive, a good institution, very beneficial for poor and that contributes a lot to the country, directly to the State and to the Panamanians themselves,” Correa said at the time during the support of this initiative.
This legislative instance will also analyze the prohijación of the draft Law 156 by which criminal sanctions are established for those public officials and directors of state entities that allow the expiration of performance and guarantee bonds in contracts with the State.
In the same way, it must define whether or not it accepts the preliminary draft of Law 213 by which Law 80 of 2012 is modified and repeals Law 122, which dictates incentive regulations for the promotion of tourist activity and the adoption of the draft Law 226, which repeals Law 256 of November 26, 2021, which modifies articles of Law 76 of 1976, on tax measures, and modifies articles of Law 76 on tax measures.
