The president of the National Assembly (AN) Jorge Rodríguez, received this Wednesday at the headquarters of the Federal Legislative Palace the Russian Ambassador to Venezuela, Sergey Mélik-Bagdasárov.
The meeting takes place within the framework of parliamentary friendship and cultural exchange between peoples, the Permanent Commission on Foreign Policy, Sovereignty and Integration of the National Assembly (AN), led the protocol activity.
The meeting served to strengthen the ties of friendship between both nations and to greet the formation of the Venezuela-Russia Parliamentary Friendship Group.
During the activity, the diplomat reported on the development of events in the region, on the occasion of the special military operation of Russia in Ukraine.
They also discussed issues of national and international interest in legislative matters to begin the process of rapprochement of the parliaments of both nations.
During the activity they signed a joint declaration to strengthen projects on culture, education, health, energy, among other sectors, necessary for the progress of the two peoples.
The friendship groupwhich is chaired by the head of the NA himself, will be in charge of coordinating a common agenda according to the national and international context, with the aim of exchanging experiences in laws with the Russian Federal Assembly.
The first vice president of the Legislative Assembly, deputy Iris Varela, and the second vice president, deputy Vanesa Montero, participated in the protocol act.
