National Assembly participated in a meeting of the Mercosur Parliament

A delegation of deputies from the National Assembly (AN), chaired by the Vice President of Venezuela for the Mercosur Parliament (Parlasur)Pedro Infante, participated in the eighty-sixth meeting of this body held in Montevideo, Uruguay.

The delegation, appointed by the president of the legislature, Jorge Rodríguez, was made up of the deputies of the Bloque de la Patria, Iris Varela and Saúl Ortega, as well as by the deputies José Gregorio Correa and Oscar Ronderos of the opposition bench, reports Press release of the AN.

During the activity carried out this Monday, various meetings were held with parliamentarians from Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Paraguay and Bolivia, where issues related to South American integration, the common legislative agenda and the steps to advance in the full reincorporation of Venezuela into the Mercosur Parliament.

Through a message on Twitter, Deputy Pedro Infante expressed his gratitude for having been invited to this parliamentary meeting. “We appreciate the invitation of Dip Cecilia Brito (Arg.) Pdta. The Mercosur Parliament

This meeting is part of the regional Venezuelan agenda, in which the National Executive recently visited Brazil as part of the strengthening of the regional integration process, and participated in the Meeting of South American Presidents.

The Mercosur Parliament (Parlasur) was created in 2005. It consists of a unicameral and representative body that incorporates the parliamentary perspective into the regional integration process, made up of deputies from Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, Venezuela, and more recently Bolivia.

It is made up of 10 permanent commissions made up of 14 parliamentarians respectively, for the legislative exercise on specific issues.

Its highest instance is the Plenary Session, where formal acts are decided with the support of the legitimacy that defines the legislative competence of this body.
