National Assembly kicks off social street parliamentarianism

This Friday the National Assembly (AN) kicks off social street parliamentarianism in order to involve the people directly in debates on laws.

América Pérez, second vice president of the National Assembly, emphasized in a television interview that the community and communal approach is the main line of action within the 2023 Legislative Agenda.

Pérez reiterated that for this legislative period, social parliamentarianism in the streets will be promoted with “great force.” For this, the deputies will go to the communities to listen to their needs in order to improve the 28 legal instruments that will be discussed this year by the Legislative Power.

In this sense, the President of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez He has highlighted the need for the legislative debate to transcend the walls of the protocol room.

Strengthening of the legislative system of popular power

“The year 2023 will be the year of the strengthening of the legislative system of popular powerr”, has asserted the president of the AN, highlighting the importance that any law that is discussed and approved in the first discussion is immediately brought to consultation with the people.

“We are preparing consultations through digital means that will allow us to have a faster way of communicating with the people of Venezuela,” Jorge Rodríguez explained in this regard.

Regarding the laws to be discussed, the second vice president of the Legislative Branch pointed out that the former are based on the recovery of the national economy to motivate the entrepreneurial sector, guaranteeing their rights to support their projects, as well as protect consumers.

Among other regulations to be discussed in 2023 are the Public Procurement Law; the Organic Law of Coordination and Harmonization of the Tax Powers of the States and Municipalities, and the norms for the communes.

Likewise, Pérez specified that laws for social welfare such as the Law on Public Services will also be discussed; the Citizen Coexistence Law, among others.
