This Thursday the National Assembly, AN, approved a draft agreement on the occasion of celebrating the 12th anniversary of the Great Housing Mission VenezuelaGMVV.
The agreement recognizes the scope of the GMVV, and in a special way the struggle of the Venezuelan people to advance in the conquest of the right to housing, which has resulted in the delivery of more than 4,500,000 decent homes.
Likewise, the text ratifies the commitment of the Legislative Branch to continue promoting plans, policies and programs to strengthen the GMVV.
“The Great Venezuela Housing Mission in these 12 years has been able to guarantee 4 million 500 thousand decent homes for the people of Venezuela and that deserves the recognition and applause of all the people and all the deputies,” he said. Rigel Sergent at the beginning of his speech to present the draft agreement.
In this regard, the legislator pointed out that this figure is accepted by international organizations such as the UN, which recognizes that Venezuela is one of the few countries that is complying with the Habitat III Agenda that guarantees access to land, the right to decent housing for the entire Venezuelan population.
GMVV achievements
Asking himself how the National Government, through the GMVV, has been able to reach that figure in such a short time, Sergent first highlighted that the GMVV has been able to democratize access to urban land. In this regard, he pointed out that more than 1,200 GMVV urban developments have been built and consolidated on more than 9,000 hectares, with access to services and urban equipment.
“The Great Venezuela Housing Mission would be impossible without the participation of the people,” the deputy highlighted in second place. In this regard, he recalled that in the face of the pandemic and the economic blockade it was the participation of popular power that prevented the GMVV from paralyzing. On this point, he indicated that currently 70% of the housing built by the Housing Mission is done directly by the people.
“We have to commemorate this anniversary because the GMVV guarantees the right to the city, it builds below market value – approximately 50% – and the GMVV is technology, because it is not only built using traditional methods,” said the deputy. , while urging them to be proud of this Mission.
