The National Assembly (AN) approved transfer of items for 16 million 537 thousand 752 dollars to the Ministry of Education (Meduca), to fulfill commitments with the construction of modular classrooms, advance payment of works, painting work in several schools, appointment of teachers and transfer of positions.
The Minister of Education, Maruja Gorday de Villalobos, explained to the deputies of the AN Budget Commission that 7,562,657 dollars of these resources are for the appointment of 1,819 educators who will complete 3,061 positions in the 2022 appointment contest. , $652 thousand will be used to purchase paint for 46 schools and to build 46 modular classrooms in the Guna Yala and Ngäbe Buglé regions.
Another $3,268,213 is required for the payment of contracts for the construction of the Cerro Balsa, Cerro Guásimo, Cerro Madera and Cerro Patena schools, in the Ngäbe Buglé region, for $338,272; and $369,491 for the Manuela H. de Pérez General Basic Education Center (CEBG); 196 thousand 555 dollars from the Escuela La Primavera, both in the province of Veraguas.
Meanwhile, for the New Emperor Comprehensive Training Educational Center, in West Panama, the amount needed is $485,560. For the Quebrada Cianca, Kuerima and Cerro Corozo schools, in the Ngäbe Buglé region, 957 thousand 891 dollars must be paid.
These transfers of items also reach amounts of $663,849 for the Llano Iglesia, Llano de San Martín, Alto Bonito, Alto Calabacito and Gasparillo schools. In addition, another 256,588 dollars for the companies that build the Calabazal, Cerro Flores and José Sabino Bonilla schools, located in the same county jurisdiction.
This emigration of funds also includes $181,149 of payments to the insurer related to the Republic of Italy School project, in San Miguelito; 240 thousand 656 dollars for the works in the CEBG José Santos Puga, in Veraguas; and $272,261 for the construction of the Ngäbe Cerro Puerco school.
This ministry needs to finance the transfer of 261 teaching positions that belonged to the Ministry of Culture to Meduca, as established in article 235 of Law 175 of November 3, 2020, which approves the General Law of Culture. To attend to the project of the Veraguas Professional and Technical Institute, which presents an advance of 92%, it was requested to transfer 450 thousand dollars.
The debate of the 652 thousand dollars, which were included in the request to increase the budget of expenses and execute the transfer made by the Presidency, to the Meduca account, which would be used in the CON Escuelas 2022 program for a safe and effective return on March 7, 2022, will be in the aforementioned commission next week.
