The president of the PPD, Natalia Piergentili, addressed in an interview the relationship of the PPD with Approve Dignity and the party’s decision to go on separate lists in the ruling party -one made up of Socialismo Democrático and another by Approve Dignity plus the PS- in view of the election of the Constitutional Council. In this regard, he commented that for the community “it has been complex to feel part” of the Executive.
On the relationship of the PPD with Appruebo Dignidad, the president of the party said that “it is not an infidelity to say that it has been difficult to build relationships. Here we are not talking about personal relationships but institutional ones,” the slogan Thirdin an interview published this Sunday.

“We joined a project with a program that was settled, that we were not part of its construction. It’s like getting on a bus while walking, it will always be a bit forced, and we have lacked spaces for political discussion, we have lacked spaces for trust-building and building,” added Piergentili.
Along these lines, he maintained that “I do not have the same arrival, nor the same harmony, nor the same ability to empathize with many members of the Government, but because we do not have a common history and because we come from rejection, prejudice, reconstruction, and those are longer processes.
He indicated that “perhaps in two years this will improve, it will be stable and we can move towards a large center-left front, but I would say that this is not possible today because love by force does not work.”
“Institutionally, I think that for the PPD it has been complex to feel part of the government. Without prejudice to the fact that we have the Minister of the Interior, we would like to be part of the discussions on relevant issues in which we are not today,” said the public administrator.
“It is how we are part of the discussion about the new development model, if we are going to have a national lithium company, what is the decentralization model with which this government is going to leave the country. In the spaces where these things are discussed we are not. Having said that, I feel that this is a bit stressful. That is institutional,” he said
two lists
The PPD board of directors ratified on Friday the decision of the National Council to go on a separate list for the election of the Constitutional Council. On this, Piergentili said that the “bet of my party is consistent and reasonable.”
“The rationale behind the two lists has to do with the fact that there are 62% of people who voted Rejection and we do not believe that a new progressive Constitution with guaranteed social rights was rejected, but that they rejected other things,” he explained.
“The option of going on the two lists corresponded to being able to speak to that world that perhaps was not going to attend a list of the Broad Front, but that could attend a list that had a social democratic perspective on the constitutional process and on politics “, added the president of the PPD.
In turn, he assured that “electorally this is a correct bet, but by the way it is a political bet. A party cannot give up having an identity that contributes to a fundamental project.”
“When you want to reveal your identity to bet on a collective project of transformations for the country, who could refuse that? That is what I cannot understand about the high-sounding that has been generated and how dramatic it has been. I rest for you all drama to this.”
“It has been important to walk with the PS all these years, but this time we believe that it is still necessary to be able to generate a center-left identity space that contributes to a good constitutional process and that -by the way- contributes to the government. And when I say the latter it is because it contributes to building majorities for the reforms,” he said.
