Candidates Paulinho Freire (União) and Natália Bonavides (PT) will contest the second round of elections in Natal. Freire had 44.08% of the valid votes and Bonavides had 28.45%. 100% of the ballots were counted.
Paulo Eduardo da Costa Freire, from União Brasil, is 60 years old and is a federal deputy. He was a councilor for several non-consecutive terms, from 1993 to 2022. In 2002, he was elected state deputy and, from 2009 to 2012, he was vice-mayor of Natal.
Natália Bastos Bonavides, from PT, is 36 years old and is in her second term as federal deputy. She was also a councilor in Natal in 2016. A lawyer, Bonavides worked with rights education and was a lawyer for the Landless Workers Movement (MST), working in camps in Rio Grande do Norte.
