Nahiara has already been discharged after a successful heart transplant

Hoy Paraguay

Little Nahiara, who received a heart transplant, was finally discharged after making a successful recovery. Doctors reiterated the importance of organ donation.

After 26 days had passed since the operation in which she received a new heart, Nahiara had the opportunity to leave the “Niños de Acosta Ñu” Pediatric Hospital when she was discharged by the doctors.

As Dr. Nancy Garay commented at a press conference, the girl was on the waiting list for a year and a month to receive a heart transplant, finally managing to find a donor on July 10.

For his part, Dr. Marcos Melgarejo highlighted the successful recovery of the patient, who had a serious condition before the operation and who, thanks to her new heart, will have a new life. “It is a satisfaction that is very difficult to describe in words.”

Rocío García, mother of Nahiara, remembered everything they had to go through before her daughter could finally receive this new heart. “We went through a lot of difficult things. We were aware of what she had to go through for her to have a chance at life, and she thanked God and my donor angel.”

He thanked the donor family that allowed the girl to give her a new chance at life with this noble gesture and also the professionals of the Children’s Pediatric Hopspital of Acosta Ñu for doing a great job for the operation.

“Nahiara smiled back, she is happy,” said her mother.

Dr. Garay stressed that “without a donor there is no transplant”, for which she asked citizens for empathy and solidarity to be encouraged to make the decision to donate organs and give other people a new chance at life if the opportunity arises.
