Puerto Rican urban artist Myke Towers surprised his followers this Wednesday with a Christmas gift: the release of his new album, ‘Lyke MIIke’, in which he once again highlights his rap and trap roots.
‘Lyke MIIke’ is the third album released by Towers in 2024.
The first was ‘The Black Panther’, in August, and the ‘The Black Panther Deluxe’ version, in October.
In ‘Lyke MIIke’, Towers also brought together some of the most renowned urban artists such as Eladio Carrión, Miky Woodz and Jon Z, the Venezuelans Akapellah and Neutro Shorty, as well as Clarent, Pressure 9×19, Dowba Montana and L-Gante.
Furthermore, on the album, Towers demonstrates why he is considered one of the best urban composers.
Throughout 23 songs, the artist displays his masterful command of narrative and rhyme, addressing both intimate and universal themes.
Prior to his last release of the year, Towers received a gold record for ‘La Pantera Negra’ and the eleventh platinum certification for the song ‘La Falda’ by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
Towers closes the year as the number one artist on the Tropical radio charts in the United States and Canada, and is positioned number two on the Spanish Contemporary chart, according to Mediabase.
The four-time Latin Grammy nominee has established himself as one of Puerto Rico’s best urban composers, fusing street narratives with catchy pop choruses in a career full of chart-topping hits.
The urban artist has released other albums such as ‘The end of the beginning’ (2016), ‘Easy Money Baby’ (2020), ‘Lyke Mike’ (2021) and ‘La vida es una’ (2023).
In 2024, Towers received four nominations at the 2024 Latin American Music Awards, including Song of the Year, Global Latin Song of the Year, Best Song – Urban, and Best Collaboration – Urban for ‘LALA’ and ‘Borracho y Loco’ with Yandel. EFE
