An interprovincial bus went off track and fell into a 200-metre-deep abyss at kilometre 20 of the La Oroya-Tarma highway, leaving nine dead and nine injured. The moments of terror were recounted by a surviving musician.

“I was traveling with all the members of the orchestra to the city of Lima, 8 have died, one just died right now on the way to the hospital, we are 20 musicians […] In fact, we were all sleeping, I only woke up when I was already lying on the road, in the middle of the darkness because it was early in the morning. […] My colleagues were saying help, help, they were complaining. Everything was normal, everything was calm, not to mention excessive speed, it was an incline,” he told RPP’s newspaper.

The survivor identified himself as Gilmer Diego Venturo and asked for support from contractors, followers and friends who could help him because he does not have insurance and his colleagues are in critical condition in the hospital. “My colleagues have been taken to the hospital. They just took out another one who had his leg trapped under the bus. They already took him away. They only told me that they have bruises and cuts.”he reported.
