Initially, there were several versions about the circumstances of the incident, such as that the young woman was exercising with headphones, which would have prevented her from hearing the train’s proximity.
However, Juanita’s mother, María Angélica, a member of the Cundinamarca legislature, spoke out publicly to clarify the facts and dedicate an emotional message to her daughter.
Through a letter shared on social media, she expressed the immense pain that the tragedy has caused in her family: “We are never prepared to face death, much less that of a daughter. With our family and team, we lived through a tragedy that no one expects to experience.”

Juanita, who was a municipal youth councilor in Cajicá and a seventh-semester Social Work student, was remembered by her mother as an exceptional young woman. “She brightened and brightened the lives of everyone in her path.
