MVOT will relocate more than 100 people in Canelones

The Ministry of Housing and Territorial Planning (MVOT) and the Canelones Intendancy agreed, this Monday 19 at the Politeama Cultural Complex, the relocation of 40 families residing in the Cigliutti settlement, near the city of Canelones.

In this regard, Minister Irene Moreira reported that the works will begin shortly, and announced the construction of a picnic area for relocated families. Also present were the undersecretary of the MVOT, Tabaré Hackenbruch; the general coordinator of the Together program, Rody Macías, and the mayor of Canelones, Yamandú Orsi.

Through the new project, which will include the construction of 40 housing solutions, the aim is to improve the quality of life of inhabitants who are in conditions of housing and social vulnerability. The Together program of the Ministry of Housing will lead the construction of the houses.

The departmental administration, meanwhile, will provide the property and carry out its general conditioning. In addition, it will trace the streets and execute the infrastructure works that will allow the installation of basic services.

The relocation preliminary project will also include the construction of a picnic area and provides for the installation of sports stations in agreement with the National Sports Secretariat. The ministry will have 2,800,000 dollars to carry out the work, the minister specified.

The new urbanization will be called Ideology Artiguista. The 40 participating families include 106 people, with nuclei of up to seven beneficiaries. More than half of the families have women heads of household.
