In the midst of the fire that rapidly consumed hundreds of stalls in the Mutualista market – from after 10:00 p.m. on Sunday until the early hours of this Monday, August 1 – the affected merchants desperately entered in search of being able to recover from the flames part of your merchandise.

In one of the corridors, a group of them found a living ‘orange’ cat with its fur singed and visible burns on its face.

In the video that recorded the feline’s rescue, he is seen wrapped in what appears to be a blue waterproof jacket that protects him from the wet floor. A woman manages to give it water using a pink lid from some disposable drink, which the little animal manages to drink by placing its tongue in the tiny makeshift trough.

Hours later it would be transferred in a blue shoe box, where it was apparently recovered once the fire was extinguished under the protection of those who managed to get it out with life, until the staff of the CAD (Wild Fauna Care and Referral Center) of the Governorate, who despite not caring for pets, gave him the necessary medical care.

Upon hearing the news, Brandy Salazar, founder of the House Ángel shelter, contacted the Government and requested custody of Mutu, as it will be called from now on, to recover his recovery and give him up for adoption later. The first thing the rescuer did was transfer him to the Vida Vital veterinarian where he is currently hospitalized. He has been hydrated with serum, he arrived in a state of shock, he is still scared and a little aggressive. His blood count states that he has low platelets.

“His body was full of weevils, unfortunately the merchants leave them locked up in the warehouses to prevent the rats from damaging their products. It is a very common practice in the markets” said with regret the young volunteer who for 6 years has been rescuing abandoned animals in terrible conditions on the streets.

Mutu is about a year old, Despite the second-degree burns he suffered on his legs and his swollen body, his prognosis is favorable.

Connoisseurs of what animals abound in the markets, hehe House Angel rescuers managed to grab a kitten this Monday who was also able to escape the flames and that he has a considerable injury to his right leg as a result of the fire.

His tests show that he has moderate anemia. Coincidentally Alista, her new name, is also orange, and is admitted to the same veterinarian as Mutu. For those interested in contributing resources for the expenses of both felines, they can contact Brandy at 785-19700.
