The musician, composer and comedian Juca Chaves died this Saturday (25), aged 84, in the capital of Bahia. “Hospital São Rafael regrets the death of patient Juca Chaves on Saturday night (25) due to complications from respiratory problems and sympathizes with his family and friends for this irreparable loss. The hospital also informs that it does not have authorization from the family to divulge more details”, says the note.
Jurandyr Czaczkes Chaves was born on October 22, 1938, in Rio de Janeiro. Trained in classical music, he began composing in childhood. He began his career in the late 1950s, playing modinhas and trovas.
He was a critic of the military dictatorship and went into exile in Portugal and Italy in the 1970s. Back in Brazil, he presented television programs in the 1980s.
Among his best-known songs are Caixinha, Graças, A Cúmplice, Menina, Que Saudade, Por Quem Sonha Ana Maria and Presidente Bossa Nova.
