Museum of Indigenous Cultures has special programming in April

The Museum of Indigenous Cultures, in partnership with the Aty Mirim Indigenous Council, promotes a series of free activities in April, the month in which the Day of the Indigenous Peoples (19) is celebrated. The program includes a handicraft fair, lectures, conversation circles and workshops.

From Wednesday (19) to Sunday (23), works by various holders of traditional knowledge will be on display, which will also be available for sale.

On Wednesday morning and afternoon, debates will be held on the rights of indigenous peoples, resistance and protection of territories. At 3:30 pm, the Coral Guarani Mbaraete, from the Jaraguá Indigenous Land, located in the north of São Paulo, performs.

Then, the new facade of the museum will be inaugurated, with paintings and graphics by indigenous artists from eight territories in the interior, coast and Greater São Paulo. The moment will feature a prayer ceremony.

On Thursday (20), at 6 pm, the artist Denilson Baniwa and the chief Awá Mbaraeté Dju will hold a dialogue on contemporary indigenous art and the struggle for territories.

On Saturday (22), there will be a presentation of the Xondaro dance and the Coral Guatapu, from Aldeia Nhanderu Pó, in Mongaguá (São Paulo coast), at 5 pm.

On the 27th, training will be offered to cultural producers and indigenous communities to prepare projects and raise funds through public notices.
