Brazilian winger Dani Alves, recognized as the most successful footballer in the world, signed a contract with the Pumas of Mexico this Saturday to reinforce him from the Apertura-2022 tournament, a contest that is already underway.
“Dani just had his physical exams and it went very well, which allows us to reach this moment of signing for his formal incorporation into the Pumas of the National University,” said Leopoldo Silva, president of the Pumas, at the protocol ceremony.
The signing of the contract took place at La Cantera, the Pumas’ training facility located south of Mexico City.
Dani Alves, 39 years old, stamped his signature on the document together with Leopoldo Silva and in the presence of Miguel Mejía Barón, the club’s sports vice president.
Later he was led by the leaders to meet with the campus. Later, the Brazilian star will offer a press conference and a presentation in one of the fields of La Cantera.
Dozens of fans who are members of the ‘Rebel’, one of the supporters of the Pumas, gathered on the field in advance to welcome Alves.
The legendary winger had posted on Instagram on Friday that he was “with the illusion of a 15-year-old boy who leaves his house to fight to write a nice chapter in his story.”
Dani Alves is considered the most successful footballer in the history of world football for the 44 titles won with the Bahia, Seville, Barcelona, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and Sao Paulo clubs, and with the Brazilian national team.
Founded in 1954 and present in the first division of Mexican soccer since 1962, the Pumas have been league champions seven times; in the Clausura-2011 tournament they won their most recent title.
Dani Alves is the sixth reinforcement to join the Pumas from the Apertura-2022 tournament. Before that, the Mexicans Gil Alcalá (goalkeeper), Adrián Aldrete (defense) and César Huerta (forward) and the Argentine attackers Eduardo Salvio and Gustavo del Prete arrived.
