Ignoring the arrests against opponents prior to the municipal processes, Murillo said that the dictatorship is grateful to God “because yesterday we lived an exemplary, wonderful, formidable day; a day in which we confirm our vocation for peace».

“When the Supreme Electoral Council announces the most complete results, we will be making a statement (…) to tell us all that this is how we want to go forward, in encounter, in generosity, in love, in respect, in understanding, in love and peace. , in freedom, in fraternity and saying properly how the people expressed themselves in all the municipalities,” Murillo said and also maintained that Nicaragua “lives in democracy.”
Although the final results of the municipal votes are missing, the Ortega government is already celebrating the victory without political competition, where mayorships have been awarded that in 2017 were won by the PLC and CxL.
In this process, the coercion of State workers to vote was recorded, more arbitrary arrests were reported and a minimum citizen participation, which according to independent organizations does not even reach 20%.
Announces installation of religious altars
In another order, the wife of dictator Daniel Ortega reported that her regime is preparing to once again install the religious altars that every year —in December— they install on Avenida de Bolívar a Chávez in Managua.
He stressed that this year, the Plaza la Fe is going to have a special fair, where «artists who come from other countries will be present, with a circus. They will be there for family entertainment and joy.”
“Therefore we are going to have the celebration and fair of all the patron saints on Avenida de Bolívar a Chávez, where later we are going to build the altars of the Purisima, which is our feast for our queen of peace in Nicaragua to honor her as every year in the joy of living in peace,” he added.
Despite his questioned religious faith, Ortega is concluding 2022 with a strong attack against the Catholic Church in Nicaragua, keeping at least 11 priests in prison, including Monsignor Rolando Álvarez under house arrest.
