Santo Domingo.-The authorities identified the author of the shooting death of a police officer as a senior police sergeant. Wendel Alejandro Almonte Veloz28 years old, who was injured last Saturday morning while traveling in his vehicle along Charles de Gaulle Avenue, in Santo Domingo Este, and died last Sunday morning while receiving medical attention.
This is Raphael Laureano de los Santos, known as Cabito, who is a sergeant major of this institution, where he works as an administrative driver for services.
The investigation was carried out by a high-level commission headed by the Public Ministry in collaboration with the National Police, while the aforementioned agent was actively pursued, according to police spokesperson Colonel Diego Pesqueira during a press conference.

He indicated that in this first phase of the investigation, the Public Ministry of the judicial district of the Santo Domingo province, together with members of the Central Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DICRIM) have deployed multiple actions that include raids, removal of cameras, analysis of evidence , forensic ballistics, as well as crime scene processing.
Pesqueira said that during the investigation process, images captured by security cameras near the scene of the incident have been obtained.
