Muñoz Ledo: "Soldiers are not 'corcholatas' at the service of tropical caciques"

Muñoz Ledo: “Soldiers are not ‘corcholatas’ at the service of tropical caciques”

“Our heroic soldiers and sailors are not ‘bottle caps’ at the service of tropical chiefs, but rather the last redoubt of national sovereignty and public liberties,” he stated.

Muñoz Ledo said that the first duty of Mexicans today is “to denounce and combat by all legitimate means the sordid purpose of militarizing the country at the end of López Obrador’s six-year term.”

“Let’s reject provocation and lies, let’s forge fighting unity for peace, let’s exercise the sacred right of resistance to oppression,” he said.

“Any weakness in the face of despotism is anticipated suicide,” he added.

The historic Mexican politician called to “restore the Republic.”

In July, Porfirio Muñoz Ledo, former president of the Chamber of Deputies, proposed creating an independent truth commission to investigate the “collusion” of the federal government with organized crime ahead of the 2024 federal elections.

A month earlier, in June, the politician caused controversy by ensuring that the López Obrador government had a pact with organized crime groups.

It was on August 8 when President Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced that he will issue an agreement so that the National Guard reports directly to the Ministry of National Defense (Sedena) and no longer to the Ministry of Public Security and Citizen Protection (SSPyPC).

What he said provoked adverse reactions and criticism from opponents, who have assured that they will fight the agreement when the president makes it official.
