Municipality of Valparaíso officiates President Boric to request urgent measures in support of local public transport

The Municipal Council of Valparaíso approved last week, and unanimously, to send a letter to the President Gabriel Boric to request urgent measures in support of the local transport service.

The document proposes to redesign or apply complementary measures to the current network of routes for the towns of Placilla and Laguna Verde. The text also points to financing, via the Regional Government, for the acquisition of at least two buses to resolve the “critical situations” of the mentioned localities.

“To the lack of response from both the Transport Seremi and the Transport Minister (…) We hope that the President will open up to consider our proposals and put in place short-term measures to resolve the crisis that has been spreading for a long time,” said the official. Mayor of Valparaiso, George Sharpslogan Cooperative Radio.

For its part, the Transport Seremi of the Valparaíso Region, Benign Retamalpointed out that they have “worked throughout this year to accelerate the processes that allow us to have more and better services. Along with this, we are carrying out work with neighborhood groups in Valparaíso and other districts to meet their specific needs.”
