Municipality of Surco will denounce Congresswoman María Acuña for constant attacks against council workers

After condemning the repeated attacks that its workers have been suffering, by people linked to legislator María Acuñawhen they carry out work to recover public spaces, the Municipality of Surco announced that he will file a complaint with the Congressional Ethics Commission against the parliamentarian “for conduct inappropriate for her environment that denigrates the investiture and undermines the principle of respect for local authority.”

The event occurred on Thursday afternoon, when the employees of the areas of Works, Ornamental Maintenance and Parks and Gardens were violently attacked from the home of the Alianza para el Progreso legislator, whose construction occupied an important area of park 17 of the Los Álamos de Monterrico urbanization.

“To the workers bricks and iron were thrown at them and other blunt objects, as well as pushing and threats. Everything has been recorded in videos that will be made available to the competent authorities,” he reported.

The commune, led by Mayor Carlos Bruce, pointed out that the violent acts were already reported to the Monterrico police station, where the victims gave their testimony and the first proceedings were collected.

Previous violent acts

This is not the first time this situation has occurred. The municipality recalled that, on October 11, the municipal staff was also attacked from the same home when they were trying to recover the public space, “which demonstrates a pattern of systematic aggression against servers municipal authorities who exercise their functions legitimately and at the service of the community”.

“The Municipality of Surco reiterates its firm commitment to order, legality and the defense of its workers, who should not be subjected to violence or intimidation for fulfilling their duty,” he said.

The beginning of the problem

It should be noted that, according to the commune, Congresswoman María Acuña is involved in the invasion of a public area in the Los Álamos de Monterrico urbanization. The complaint indicates that the sister of the future presidential candidate, César Acuña, would have fenced 118 square meters of a park to annex them to her private property.

Last July, it was learned that the municipality of Surco carried out a topographic survey that confirmed that the parliamentarian’s home exceeds its registered perimeter and extends irregularly over Park 17.

To date, there is still a missing 66 square meters that Acuña occupies illegally and has not returned to the commune. The parliamentarian described the latest municipal operations as “abuses” and insisted that the land was acquired, under these conditions, from its previous owner and the construction dates back more than 50 years.
