The Municipality of Montevideo received a group of residents of Punta Carretas and informed them that finally, it will not arrow 21 de Setiembre Street, as they had previously announced. Instead, traffic control measures will be adopted on that street, such as the placement of traffic lights, traffic surveillance cameras, a parking ban at certain times on Ellauri street to the south, among other measures.

In turn, on Solano Antuña street, parking will only be allowed on one of its sidewalks and the collective transport ticket will not be enabled. Modifications will also be made to the parking lot of certain streets in the neighborhood so that it can be parked obliquely.

Carolina Cosse had announced a couple of weeks ago that the works that imply several changes in the Pocitos, Punta Carretas, Malvín and Buceo neighborhoods, whose investment was US$ 4 million, to be paid in two and a half years.

One of the measures that most impacted the residents was the shooting of September 21. This implied diverting the road to the opposite side through the parallel streets Solano Antuña and Enrique Muñoz.

“We are always attentive to suggestions. The merchants raised the need to maintain the two flows on 21 de Setiembre and they argued it very well. On the other hand, the neighbors raised the issue of the flow of public transport through Solano Antuña. What we decided to do is incorporate all public transport on September 21, but we are going to demand more of it,” said the mayor. “Here the central nucleus is to improve mobility. That there is no queue or traffic jams,” she assured.
