Municipality of Montevideo (IM) rewards environmental projects of cooperatives

The awards ceremony took place in the Ernesto De los Campos Hall of the Municipal Palace and was attended by Mayor Carolina Cosse who stated on the occasion that “the construction of a new environmental culture is much more than keeping the city clean. It is caring for the other, it is building a culture of solidarity in which the cooperatives can teach them », stated Cosse.

19 projects were presented, of which 15 will receive support of 200,000 pesos to be implemented. The cooperatives, to participate in this call, had to have the Greener Stamp granted by the capital commune.

The awarded projects include the development of community gardens, compost bins, green spaces in the cooperatives, among others.

Also participating in the event were the director of the Cleaning Division, Ignacio Lorenzo; the head of the Environmental Management Department, Verónica Piñeiro; the director of the Department of Culture, María Inés Obaldía; the members of the jury, Andrea de Nigris, Ángeles Datti and Tania Azcárate; and representatives of Fecovi and Fucvam.
