the vice president Raquel Pena and the executive director of the National Institute of Drinking Water and Sewerage (Inapa), Wellington Arnaud, inaugurated this Sunday the wastewater treatment plant of the municipality of fantinoSánchez Ramírez province, with an investment of RD$107 million pesos.
When offering details of the work, the executive director of Inapa highlighted that the project has the capacity to treat the domestic liquid waste of an estimated population of 24,000 inhabitants, which ensures the health and protection of the ecological systems of the demarcation.
The official indicated that the work consists of a gravity system consisting of a collection network and a wastewater treatment plant.
The director of the governing body for drinking water and sanitation recalled that, on his first visit to Fantino, together with his technical team, he observed with concern how the wastewater collection system operated deficiently, which kept the demarcation in danger because of the diseases that this situation generated.

However, with the will and firm support of President Luis Abinader, INAPA began the work, which has become an efficient system for the collection, treatment, and final disposal of wastewater from this industrious community.
The Inapa head explained that the wastewater treatment system, with a capacity of 50 liters per second, has a set of lagoons (aeration and facultative) and the receiving body is the Cuayá River.
He stressed that the components of the system intervened to guarantee correct operation include the placement of more than 2,500 meters of pipe, more than 44 precast reinforced concrete registers, as well as the installation of some 130 home connection units.
He also specified that the project is fully electrified, illuminated and protected by a perimeter fence.
He informed that this year more than 100 works will be inaugurated to guarantee health and improve people’s quality of life.
For her part, the vice president said that even facing external situations, the country led by the president Luis Abinader has advanced and proof of this is this work that was claimed for more than 30 years.
