The municipality of Angélica, in Mato Grosso do Sul, will choose today (15) who will be the mayor and deputy mayor of the city until the end of 2024, in order to complement the contested mandate of João Cassuci (PDT), elected in 2020 with sub judice registration. Voting will be from 7 am to 5 pm.
Around 8,600 people are expected to participate in the by-election in the 29 polling stations spread across five polling places. Four candidates are running for mayor.
According to the Regional Electoral Court of Mato Grosso do Sul (TRE-MS), 38 ballot boxes will be used, ten of them for contingency, in case equipment replacements are necessary.
Around 300 people, including civil servants, collaborators, assistants, poll workers and civil and military police, were assigned to help carry out the election, in addition to the judge and the representative of the Electoral Public Prosecutor’s Office.
Currently, the position of mayor has been exercised by the mayor of Angélica, Almir Fagundes.
