The São Paulo municipality of Salesópolis recorded landslides this weekend, which led to the partial collapse of the Hotel Vale das Nascentes, located at km 5 of Estrada da Roseira. There was also a landslide on the same road, close to Morro Grande, and on Estrada da Barra.
According to the Civil Defense of the state of São Paulo, the roads remained closed this morning (5), until the material is removed. There were no reports of casualties.
Data collected at 6:55 am this Sunday by the National Center for Monitoring and Alerts of Natural Disasters (Cemaden) and the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) show that the highest accumulated in the previous 24 hours were in the municipalities of Salesópolis (Ponte Nova): 80 millimeters (mm ); São Sebastião (Maresias): 65 mm; Caraguatatuba (Fazenda Serra Mar): 64 mm; Turvo Bar (Center): 63 mm; São Sebastião (Barra do Una): 57 mm; São Sebastião (Juquehy): 55 mm; and Santos (Nova Cintra): 54 mm.
In Caraguatatuba, there were records of flooding on public roads caused by a large volume of rainwater. The most affected neighborhoods are the center (Avenida da Praia), Aruã, Poiares, Pinta, Rio do Ouro and Perequê-Mirim. Civil Defense reported that some homes were momentarily flooded, but there were no records of victims, displaced people or homeless people.
In Peruíbe (Parque do Trevo), which recorded 45 mm, there were, on public roads, erosion caused by floods, a tree fall and flooding points in the Guaraú neighborhood. One family was left homeless and taken to their relatives’ home.
On Saturday afternoon (4), 44 calls for falling trees were recorded in the municipality of Campinas. The most affected neighborhoods were Parque Taqueral, Parque Alto Taqueral, Jardim Proença, Loteamento Vila Lafayette Álvaro, Vila Costa e Silva, Vila Miguel Vicente Cury and Parque São Martino.
On Rua dos Pacães, one of the trees hit the roof of a residence, which underwent a technical inspection and was preventively closed. Four people were left homeless and taken to their relatives’ homes.
In Americana, 30 calls were recorded for trees falling on public roads, some of which reached the power grid. The most affected neighborhoods were Ipiranga, Cidade Jardim and Jardim Brasília. The electricity company was contacted and sent technicians to the affected locations. There were no reports of anyone injured, displaced or displaced, and no homes were hit.
