There is a shortage of drinking water in the capital of the Guarayos province due to the decrease in the reservoir lagoon, from where the companies that provide this service are supplied to distribute to the entire population. The lack of water, they indicated, is due to the drought.
Given this situation, the entities providing the service, the Municipal Potable Water Services and Sewerage Company (Emapsa) and the Ascensión de Guarayos Public Services Cooperative (Cospas), proceeded with the rationing of the liquid to the population. There is water only half a day, exactly, until 2:00 p.m. It is so, The Municipal Council passed a law declaring the municipality of Ascensión de Guarayos in a state of emergency due to this problem.
On their side, technicians from both Emapsa and Cospas agreed that the water reserve in the aforementioned lagoon is only for the next eight days.
Pedro Choque, manager of Cospas, indicated that as an “urgent” measure they are enabling some wells, which are in disuse in the urban area, to palliate the situation.
ANDThis problem is added to the scarcity and excessive rise of some items from the family basket, to the long queues to buy gasoline, as a result of the strike and blockade that the 2023 census requires.
