This Friday, April 29, the 30-day term that the councilors of the Capital Municipality had to respond to the memorial presented by Luis Pinedo, of the Citizen Consultation Movement for the realization of an Open Town Council, expires.
Along the same lines, the general secretary of the Municipal Council of Panama, Manuel Jiménez, revealed that the response will be issued this Friday, which is positive.
“Today we will be sending the response to Mr. Pinedo and to the group. We are verifying, first the signatures, since we found some that said San Miguelito, we are proceeding to send a note to the Electoral Court so that it can certify it, and immediately the president of the Council, Abdiel Sandoya, will present the date of the Open Town Hall,” he reported.
He stressed that they will comply with the entire process that the law says, regarding citizen consultations.
Jiménez indicated that the Citizen Consultation movement delivered 1,029 signatures, however, they found three signatures that said San Miguelito.
An open council is a public meeting that must have the participation of the mayor of Panama and the 26 representatives of the townships so that the issues proposed by the citizens can be addressed.
The questions that the citizens ask in the Open Town Hall must be answered five days after it is held.
